(23.03.2026, Munich) Tecloman Energy has supported the delivery of Europe’s first large-scale, 110 MW on-site microgrid for a hyperscale data centre in Ireland, developed in collaboration with AVK-SEG. The project demonstrates how flexible, high-performance energy systems can accelerate digital infrastructure deployment in grid-constrained environments.
The microgrid is designed as a scalable platform that will ultimately deliver 110 MW of on-site generation capacity once the final energy stations are fully operational. The current phase focuses on a temporary 10 MW microgrid, enabling the data centre to begin operations while permanent grid infrastructure is still under development.
By clearly distinguishing between the temporary installation and the final build-out, the project highlights a new approach to overcoming grid connection delays and supporting the rapid growth of AI-driven and hyperscale data centre demand.
Distributed Energy Storage Across Three Sites
As part of the project, Tecloman supplied 108 liquid-cooled battery storage units, deployed across three separate sites within the microgrid architecture. This distributed configuration enhances system resilience and operational flexibility, allowing the platform to dynamically respond to load requirements while maintaining stability across multiple nodes.
Tecloman’s TRACK liquid-cooling technology ensures high energy density, improved thermal management, and consistent performance under demanding operating conditions, all of which are essential for mission-critical data centre applications.
System Performance and Integration
Battery energy storage plays a central role in enabling the microgrid to function as a stable and responsive power source. In its current configuration, supporting the 10 MW temporary microgrid, the system enables load balancing and rapid response to fluctuations in demand, ensuring uninterrupted power delivery to hyperscale data centre operations.
The system architecture has been designed with scalability in mind, supporting the future expansion towards the full 110 MW on-site microgrid capacity once the final energy stations are fully deployed. Tecloman worked closely with project partners to ensure seamless integration of its battery storage solutions with generation assets and medium-voltage infrastructure, enabling both immediate operational stability and long-term system flexibility.
Supporting the Next Phase of Data Centre Growth
As demand for AI and large-scale compute continues to accelerate, access to grid capacity is emerging as one of the primary constraints on data centre development. Projects such as this highlight the growing importance of microgrid solutions combining generation and battery storage to enable faster, more flexible deployment of digital infrastructure. Tecloman will continue to support global customers with advanced energy storage solutions designed for utility-scale and mission-critical applications.
